Community Resilience to Extreme Weather (CREW) explores ways of communicating and promoting community adaptation to the rapidly increasing risks and hazards of extreme weather and the public health impacts.

Community Resilience to Extreme Weather (CREW) explores ways of communicating and promoting community adaptation to the rapidly increasing risks and hazards of extreme weather and the public health impacts. CREW is a volunteer driven community organization.

CREW uses a “neighbours helping neighbours” approach. It encourages local networks that build social capital and are supported by their municipal partners. These networks may be hyper-local, such as apartment building tenants that keep an eye on the well-being of their neighbours and establish emergency protocols that would help the official response. Or networks may be city-wide as they grow to connect multiple stakeholders and prioritize vulnerable residents.

CREW uses the Resilientville Canada Asset Mapping and Role Playing tools in communities, classrooms, and with municipal staff.
