Jane’s Walk is an urban engagement movement consisting of walking tours led by local volunteers. The tours create time and space for people to connect, share, and develop ideas about how their communities and cities function and where there is opportunity for change.
Jane’s Walk was created in 2007 by friends of the late Jane Jacobs, a visionary urbanist who believed in walkability and a community-based approach to city-building. Since its inception, tens of thousands of people have volunteered to lead walks. During the May 2014 annual festival walk weekend, there were walks in six continents, in over 130 cities from Calgary to Calcutta.
