Over 20 years ago, a small group of changemakers and philanthropists asked: how can we foster a healthy planet and a just society? They created MakeWay (formerly Tides Canada) a national charity that provides innovative supports for environmental and social change initiatives across the country.
Today, MakeWay is made up of two entities – MakeWay Foundation and MakeWay Charitable Society (also known as the Shared Platform). Over 80 staff members work on the Foundation team, and over 200 work across a diversity of projects on the Shared Platform.
MakeWay Foundation is a charity and public foundation with a goal to enable nature and communities to thrive together. We do this by building partnerships, providing solutions, grants, and services for the charitable sector across the country.
