Tides Canada is tackling tough social and environmental problems that require uncommon solutions.

Donate NowWe rely on the generosity of donors to help us advance solutions to the environmental and social issues that matter most to Canadians. Until the end of the calendar year, donations made to Tides Canada’s Uncommon Solutions Fund will be matched 1-for-1 by a generous supporter.

Together, we can protect what makes us proud to be Canadian—a healthy environment, thriving and caring communities, and a sustainable future for generations to come.

By giving to Tides Canada’s Uncommon Solutions Fund, you are directly supporting innovative positive changes in our country. Donations to our Uncommon Solutions Fund are undesignated and go to the areas of greatest need, enabling your gift to have the most impact.

Here are just a few examples of what we have been able to do over the past year thanks to past support:

  • Revitalize local food systems in northern Manitoba. Through our Northern Manitoba Food, Culture, and Community Fund initiative, the remote community of Garden Hill First Nation was able to lead a pilot project that directly addressed food insecurity while creating sustainable employment opportunities in the community. The project helped build a market for Garden Hill fish, resulting in the development of a country food program and the beginnings of a fishing cooperative.
  • Power innovative economic opportunities for Vancouver binners on Tides Canada’s shared platform. “Binner” is the Canadian west coast term for people who collect redeemable containers from garbage and recycling bins to improve their economic opportunities with the added benefit of diverting waste from landfills. Led by a group of binners aided by support staff, the Binners’ Project—the newest addition to Tides Canada’s shared platform—is dedicated to improving work opportunities, reducing the stigma associated with informal recyclable collectors, and increasing public awareness of how binners are contributing to a greener society. The Binners’ Project is now among over 40 social change initiatives that Tides Canada’s shared platform powers across the country.
  • Empower indigenous youth as leaders in their community. Indigenous youth are the largest and fastest growing population in Ontario and are emerging as leaders in their communities. We partnered to create the Ontario Indigenous Youth Partnership Project (OIYPP), a unique funder collaborative that is guided by indigenous youth and enables them to explore and execute their project ideas. With OIYPP’s mentorship, skills training, and connections to the philanthropic community, our youth-led projects galvanized communities around a shared desire for a healthy environment, social inclusivity, and strong cultural connections.

Thanks to the 1-for-1 match, there is no better time to make a gift. Donate now and your gift will be doubled.

Thank you for helping us realize these uncommon solutions for the common good.
