Tides Canada announces Andrew Heintzman as new Board Chair

Tides Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Heintzman as Chair of the Board of Directors. Heintzman is a preeminent voice for impact investment, sustainable food systems, environmental protection, and philanthropic giving in Canada.

He replaces Jodi White, who served as Chair for over seven years. White’s career has bridged philanthropy, public service, business, and journalism. She was awarded the Order of Canada in 2013 for her work in philanthropy and for her contributions to public policy dialogue.

Andrew’s dedication to Tides Canada’s mission has been evident over the decade we have worked alongside each other on the Board,” says White. “From his contributions as longstanding Chair of our Finance and Investment Committee to his deep knowledge of environmental issues and finance, Andrew’s experience makes him an ideal Board Chair. I know he will serve ably.”

Heintzman is the CEO and co-founder of InvestEco Capital, Canada’s first venture capital firm to invest exclusively in companies that promote health and sustainability in the food and agricultural sector. He is a Director of CanadaHelps.org and sits on a number of corporate boards including Vital Farms, 100km Foods, Mama Earth Organics, and Maple Hill Creamery. In addition, Heintzman is a member of the Steering Committee for the Smart Prosperity Institute.

An advocate for business innovators working towards a sustainable future, Heintzman is the author of The New Entrepreneurs: Building a Green Economy for the Future and co-editor of Fueling the Future: How the Battle over Energy is Changing Everything and Feeding the Future: From Fat to Famine, and Food and Fuel: Solutions for the Future.

“I am looking forward to taking on the role of Chair at this exciting time in Tides Canada’s evolution as we grow our impact across the country,” says Heintzman. “I would like to acknowledge the superb leadership of Jodi, who guided Tides Canada through a period marked by successes, challenges, innovation, and growth. And I’m very pleased that Jodi will continue to serve on the Board as a Director.”
