A person who collects redeemable containers and other objects of value from bins to sustain their livelihood and divert waste from landfills; a dumpster diver.
The Binners’ Project is a group of waste-pickers, aided by support staff, dedicated to improving their economic opportunities and reducing the stigma they face as informal recyclable collectors. Over the past year, the Binners’ Project engaged over 300 binners through monthly meetings, workshops, and activities, such as the Coffee Cup Revolution.
